We all perceive the world through different eyes. I wish to explore how much my painted perception of a subject can differ from the perceptions of others. Rather than ask others to set up a canvas and paint alongside me, I instead ask those who wish to participate to show me how they perceive the subject matter by adjusting the projected image: moving the projector closer to, further away from, or askew from the canvas, so that at least some part of the finished painting will show evidence of their own artistic interpretation. I hope to capture a single work that embodies the diversity in thought and perception of a collection of people—illustrating just how different and unique we all are.
