Good Thing I Showered

Good Thing I Showered is an interactive installation that combines movement, shadows, and video. There are four frames on wheels, which have shower curtains painted black and white with some spots that are clear or see through. The performers will be dressed in white and will move with and manipulate these frames as the night progresses. There will be a light pointed at the performers, which will cast large shadows along the back wall. High along the wall will be a camera that will capture these movements. A live image of the active area will run through an Isadora patch with effects that are triggered by the performers’ movements. This image will be projected on the sidewall. The performers will mimic the same movements and motions that took place while making the frames, thus, a video of the frame-making process will also be shown periodically along with the live images being projected on the sidewall.

With this project, our group wants to question the idea of presentation. There is this movement that is happening, yet, different ways it can be seen: there is the live action that is taking place with the dancers and the frames on wheels, the shadows of these people and objects are being cast on the wall, and there is the live video feed that is manipulated by a program being projected onto another wall. These visuals stem from the same source but are presented in different ways.
